May 18th, South Col, Mt Everest, 8000m - Journal Entry

“it’s just before 10.00pm, and I am in a tent on the South Col of Mt Everest, alone!! My oxygen is about to run out, it’s freezing cold, and the camp is quiet. All my fellow climbers have departed for the final ascent to the summit, and I am feeling so alone and confused. I am dressed in my suit, ready to go, and was told by Pasang that he was going to be back in an hour about two hours ago, so we could depart, but I can hear nothing other than the silence of the night, nothing to indicate his return. I am trying to find some calm and perhaps even company writing, knowing I can then post this and the moment will become shared and right now that feels a bit less isolating. My hands are freezing and so it’s almost hurting to write but if I don’t do something to focus my mind, all I keep thinking is that I am sure I should not be in this situation, alone at nearly 8000m!!”

Everyone climbs mountains in life.

Not everyone has a map.

We all face moments that challenge who we are—when life, leadership, or change pushes us to dig deeper and realign with what truly matters.

Jen’s work speaks to this universal human experience: the inner climb that begins when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Her keynotes don’t just inspire. They create momentum for real transformation—personally and professionally.

Growth rarely happens in a straight line.t happens in the valleys, the questions, the reset moments.
This is the heart of Jen’s message: that disruption isn’t something to fear—it’s often the beginning of something truer.

Through story, insight, and practical guidance, Jen helps audiences make sense of their own journey—and find the courage to rise stronger.

Over the years, Jen’s own climb—through challenge, reflection, and deep study—led her to ask a powerful question:
What really helps us find our footing again when life throws us off track?

What emerged wasn’t a rigid formula, but a simple yet transformational way to navigate change, challenge and personal growth. Grounded in lived experience, positive psychology and evidence-based coaching tools, the Mountain Method is a practical and compassionate framework that helps us pause, reflect and move forward with clarity and purpose - making sure we’re climbing the mountains that actually matter.

This approach underpins Jen’s keynotes and workshops—and for those ready to go deeper, it also forms the foundation for her coaching and team facilitation work.

“Jen came to talk to us about her experience climbing her mountain – and I was honestly captivated from the get-go. Jen is authentic. Jen is brave. Jen is a current day adventurer who tells her story with depth, humour, and clarity. A gifted weaver of stories, and a natural on the stage, I would recommend Jen as a speaker to leaders and large groups – Jen tells the story of someone audacious enough to set a crazy goal and go for it. She tells the story of planning, execution, recovery, and redirection for further success. I’m so grateful I was able to hear her story. It was such a privilege to hear it – I hope you do too!”
